Here’s how to vote for Illinois’ new state flag
Voting is open in the the new state flag design contest. The public can vote online at www.ilsos.gov/stateflag for one of the new designs, or for one of three flags that have already flown over the Land of Lincoln: the current state flag, the 1918 Centennial Flag and the 1968 Sesquicentennial Flag. Votes can be cast once a day through Feb. 14.

Illinoisans can now start choosing which new state flag they prefer, and it could be the current flag, one of two other previous state flags, or one of 10 finalists. The current Illinois flag has been around since 1970.
Ranking the New Illinois State Flag Designs
The red, white, and blue stands both for Old Glory and the tricolor of France, which also flew over the state. Lincoln’s profile and the state’s Mississippi River boundary face off nicely against each other — but they may be hard to identify from the top of a flagpole, knocking this option out of the top spot.
