In a salute to one of its most accomplished residents, the city of Hopkins, Minnesota, will temporarily rename itself “Paige Bueckers, Minnesota” on May 16, 2025. This special designation coincides with Bueckers’ pro basketball debut after being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings.​

It's a cool milestone for Bueckers, who many are expecting to follow in the footsteps of Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. For what it's worth, Clark has yet to see her hometown of Des Moines, Iowa get named after her—even just for a day. Caitlin Clark Day was declared in Iowa on Feb. 22, 2024 to honor her achievements with the Hawkeyes.

WNBA fans are excited to see Paige Bueckers debut in the league, as well as her hometown, who is doing something cool to commemorate the day.
