During free agency, the Denver Broncos signed two defensive starters from the San Francisco 49ers: safety Talanoa Hufanga to a three-year contract worth $39 million and linebacker Dre Greenlaw to a three-year deal valued at $31.5 million.
The position has haunted fans in the past when it comes to draft selections, as the 49ers whiffed on third-round picks Trey Sermon and Tyrion Davis-Price. They also took Isaac Guerendo in the fourth round last year, recently making an investment at the position.
Greenlaw, 27, was drafted by the Niners in the fifth round out of Arkansas in 2019. After two 100-plus-tackle seasons in 2022 and 2023, he only appeared in two games for the Niners last year as he worked back from his grievous, career-threatening Achilles injury, but take it from Warner; Greenlaw looked like he hadn't missed a beat.
