NEW YORK — Top Department of Justice officials under President Donald Trump have been talking with Manhattan prosecutors about dropping criminal charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, according to a person with knowledge of the discussions.

Mayor Eric Adams is expected to return to his full public schedule on Thursday — after a three-day break from the limelight due to an undisclosed illness, The Post has learned. Hizzoner has been holed up in Gracie Mansion since the weekend after visiting the doctor late last week when he started to have trouble moving around, sources said.

Officials in the Trump administration have been in contact with the New York prosecutor’s office about the matter.
