Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing Jr. defeated incumbent Jean Stothert in the general election to become the next mayor of Omaha.Ewing is the first Black mayor in the history of Omaha.

The coalition said Ewing's election was a milestone in Omaha's path towards equity and representation.
