The Sabres beat the Penguins 7-3 in their first 2024-25 preseason game, and there was a lot to like from the dominating performance.

The Pittsburgh Penguins begin their preseason schedule Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres at Key Bank Arena. The overcrowded Penguins included a couple of NHL regulars and hopefuls on the roster that will faceoff against Buffalo at 7 p.

There were things to like including JJ Peterka’s hat trick. To me the Peterka goals were significant because of the way they were scored. The first came five seconds into a power play. It was the type of goal the team is trying to learn how to score.
