While Democrats nationally react to stinging losses in the presidential race and U.S. Senate, Democratic lawmakers in Oregon received a boost in this fall’s election, flipping a key seat in the Legislature to expand their control in the state Senate.

The Democrat-favoring partisan balance in the Colorado Legislature will look similar to the previous two years, based on early results from Tuesday’s election, though a couple of races remain too close to call as of publication time.

After Tuesday’s results, GOP will hold 32 seats in the South Carolina state Senate, with the likelihood of the number going up to 34 seats after two automatic recounts.

Colorado Republicans denied Democrats a supermajority in the state Senate. But Democrats were likely to renew their large edge in the House.

Democrats retained control of the chamber 102-101 by holding onto a western Pennsylvania district, giving them just enough votes to keep the speakership and determine the chamber's voting agenda. Republicans' hopes of returning to control the chamber were dashed after two years in the minority.

The Pennsylvania House will remain under Democratic control in 2025 as the party held on to all 102 of its seats — including one in Trump country.

Lawmakers in all 203 districts in the state were up for election Tuesday and none of them flipped. The Republicans will hold onto their majority in the state Senate.
