U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's Republicans on Tuesday inched closer to winning a majority in the House of Representatives and with it full control of Congress, which would give Trump power to advance his agenda when he returns to the White House in January.

( NewsNation) —The Republicans have won control of the U.S. House of Representatives after the party took 218 seats in national elections, NewsNation/Decision Desk HQ called. All 435 House seats were up for reelection leaving the chamber’s balance of power up for grabs. House members are elected to two-year terms.

Republicans need to win six more seats to keep control of the House and they already have enough victories to wrest control of the U.S. Senate from Democrats, though Edison Research projected late on Friday that Democratic U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen won reelection in Nevada.
