In a salute to one of its most accomplished residents, the city of Hopkins, Minnesota, will temporarily rename itself “Paige Bueckers, Minnesota” on May 16, 2025. This special designation coincides with Bueckers’ pro basketball debut after being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings.​

The WNBA draft has concluded and the Dallas Wings made a splash. With the No. 1 overall pick, Dallas selected UConn guard Paige Bueckers. A three-time first-team All-American, Bueckers heads to Dallas after finishing off her collegiate career with a national title.

Paige Bueckers was drafted No. 1 overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft on Monday night, headlining an all-star draft class that also saw 19-year-old French center Dominique Malonga, LSU forward Aneesah Morrow, and TCU guard Hailey Van Lith taken in the first round.
