The campground sits on the north shore of Big Bear Lake surrounded by evergreens. There are 31 sites for tent and small trailer use. 11 sites can accommodate 30’ trailers/vehicles. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump well.

Big Bear Lake State Forest Campground in Johannesburg Michigan provides 30 sites on the sandy north shore of Big Bear Lake and on Big Bear Pointe for tent and small trailer use. 11 sites can accommodate 40-ft trailer/vehicle.

Big Bear Lake Pathway is a 2.5-mile trail system of two interconnected loops with most of the trail north of the Bear Lake Road. Departing from east end of main campground is the 1.8-mile Eagle Roost Loop, from the west end the 1-mile Beaver Lodge Loop.
