Absolutely the best Elvis books, and really a couple of the best biographies I've read on any entertainer, period. I honestly envy anyone reading them for the first time, I just remember not being able to put them down. I was very surprised Peter wasn't involved with the documentary, shocked actually.

Jul 19, 2020 · In terms of books, you really can’t go wrong with Peter Guralnick’s “Last Train To Memphis” and “Careless Love”, they are regarded as some of the best biographies about any musician in general, they cut through all the bullshit and clatter that surrounds Elvis’ life and gives a very nuanced view of his life and artistry.

Sep 25, 2022 · It's almost like a form of meditation even or mini musical biography of Elvis through the years. I also personally like Elvis Presley - A Boy fron Tupelo (53-55) and A Date with Elvis, both very nice compilations. But for a 1st 1, I think Elvis 30 No.1s is the best because you get a taste of everything chronologically even!

Oct 1, 2022 · Bill O'Reilly's new book is also in audio, "Killing the Legends." I just finished the first section on Elvis. A lot of good & sad information. He talked about Elvis's health & how the Colonel & RCA stole his income from him. A lot of information about his health and drug use. I was in the same army unit he was in in 1972.

Feb 17, 2023 · I read Careless Love first, because it covered "my" 70's Elvis (and obviously more.) Is it sad? Yep, but his is a sad story. Classic rags to riches. Isolated. Taken advantage of. A few "Elvis! What would your mother say?!" moments. And it goes deep. Incredible research. Stayed with me. I'm just starting Last Train 4 months later.
