The Golden Fire Hydrant (also called "the Little Giant") is a fire hydrant on the corner of Dolores Park in the Mission District of San Francisco. The hydrant is celebrated for being one of the few functioning hydrants after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

In honor of their epic fight, the fire hydrant was painted gold. Every year on the anniversary of the earthquake, the hydrant receives a fresh coat of paint from the Fire Chief and local residents at 5:12 a.m. (the exact time of earthquake hit).

Every year, earthquake survivor Les Bulloch puts a coat of gold paint on the hydrant -- the only one that still functioned after the 1906 quake. This very special hydrant was responsible for saving the houses between 20th and 22nd Streets from the Great Fire.
