Feb 12, 2024 · Thanks! Yeah, I’m a little leery of having to choose between perfect reception (via antenna) and using earbuds. Would be nice to have great reception WITH the earbuds, but one of the reviews I saw for the DT-800 suggested that they may have improved the quality of the reception using earbuds. We’ll see.

Jan 19, 2018 · Simple, clean, great reception, sounds good (as long as you have reasonable expectations for this kind of unit). I also have a fancier Como Audio radio for internet radio and Bluetooth and such. Its reception isn't nearly as good as the Sangean, but the sound is comparable and obviously it has a ton more connectivity options.

Jun 1, 2022 · Interesting! The old Tube AM radios sounded good, the Ford Philco. Even the Delco AM-FM radios sounded great IMO.. My MGB had a no-name tube AM radio (made in the UK) that I was satisfied with. I just eased the dial (no digital displays) a bit to the left or right to receive some higher frequency signal.

Jun 21, 2018 · I bought a new in box 1964 Admiral AM-FM tube type clock radio. 4" speaker with tube audio provides excellent sonics. Clock is sync'ed to 60 cycle AC 120 volts thus never loses any time, not even a second over months. Back lighted dail is easy to read in the dark. Faithfully wakes me up for work.

Your tuner is 13.2dBF sensitivity or slightly over 1 microvolt sensitivity for minimum noise free reception in mono. Stereo is about 5 microvolts for noise free reception.

Oct 13, 2018 · Now, the best tube tuners in proper alignment can come close to the better SS tuners regarding fringe reception. Most SS are better though. As for best sounding, better quality tube tuners are best. One SS tuner that is about as good as tubes with a dual J-FET front end (sensitivity) and discrete (no op-amp) audio output is a Scott LT-112B.

Feb 27, 2019 · This compact antenna adds some gain. I use one mounted inside my house. It is far superior to a 30" wire antenna. States omnidirectional, but has some gain in one direction. Simply rotate antenna to the weakest FM station for best signal and it will still pick up stronger stations from any direction.
