Oct 26, 2022 · I just finished a game using pixel art for the first time, and I used a combination of aseprite and Photoshop. Aseprite was really great for pixel work, easy use of palettes, and especially for animation with sprite sheets. I think there are also maybe some tile mapping tools I didn't get the chance to check out.

Feb 4, 2020 · I think most people actually use a mouse for pixel art (don't quote me on that). An alternative of course is a drawing pad, but those Cost a good chunk. If you're absolutely against a mouse, you could download pixel studio on your phone or tablet. As for a program, if you're looking to spend money, aseprite is popular (for good reason).

I atarted experimenting with Pixel art about 6 months ago and Aseprite has been my fave, too. Have tried a few programs and it's just a well thought out interface with some really nice features that streamline some things like tile maps.

It still pales in comparison to the BEST options out there, which are desktop apps like Aseprite. Aseprite rules and it’s often on sale for like $11. Of course it’s not a native iPad app at all, but in many ways, I find mouse & keyboard just work better for pixel art.

Dec 9, 2014 · With any static or low-complexity animation, I do it as a sprite sheet in Paint.NET. It's light, quick and expandable. You can save pixel art palettes and load them up from file as well. Anything like a run cycle or complex limb movement will draw me to GraphicsGale. You really can't get better for pixel art.
