The City Council is the governing body of the City of Big Bear Lake. It is responsible for the formulation of City policies, enacting laws and ordinances, and deciding other issues impacting the City and the community.

The City Clerk of the City of Big Bear Lake serves as a liaison between the public and the City Council and is the local official who administers democratic processes such as elections, local legislative actions, and access to City records, ensuring transparency to the public.

Randall Putz has been a local elected official since 2008. He began serving on the Big Bear Lake City Council in 2014, and was most recently re-elected in 2022. Randall has served as Mayor Pro Tem several times, and as Mayor twice in 2020 and 2023.

CITY PARKS. The City of Big Bear Lake owns, operates, and maintains three (3) beautiful parks within our City limits - Boulder Bay Park, Veteran's Park, and Rotary Park.

The Engineering Division is responsible for the implementation of the City’s adopted five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which consists of a variety of projects to construct, maintain, repair, and rehabilitate the City’s infrastructure and identifies future street improvement projects.

The City Clerk is the filing officer for financial reporting by City officials and candidates and instructs and assists elected and appointed officials and designated personnel in complying with provisions of the Political Reform Act.

The Village Specific Plan defines the future development plans for the Village area of Big Bear Lake. It addresses all relevant planning issues and represents the primary opportunities and constraints for the Village.

The Public Works Sanitation Division services 8,300 properties providing for the collection, transportation to the Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Authority (BBARWA) facility, and treatment of wastewater in the City.
