Newport City footbridge [1] is a pedestrian/cycle bridge over the River Usk in the city of Newport, South Wales. The bridge links the east bank of the river in the vicinity of Rodney Parade stadium to University Plaza on the west bank. It was the first major public project in Newport Unlimited's plans to regenerate the city.

Their city centre masterplan identified the need for improved pedestrian access to the city centre. The Newport City Footbridge plays a critical part in the city's accessibility strategy, linking the east and west banks of the River Usk, allowing people to travel quickly and safely between the two.

Gracefully arching over the River Usk and part of the Severn’s estuary tidal system, the Newport Bridge creates a dramatic, identifiable structure and a much-needed pedestrian–cycle link between the east bank and the city centre.

It's a well designed bridge with nice sails and footlights. It has a good view up and down the river usk. It means you don't have to walk along a busier mixed use bridge or swim across the usk so all in all can't fault it.
