Apr 30, 2014 · The way to play republics depends on the type of game you want to play. If you want to have a really laid back game, don't ally anyone and don't try to conquer anyone. Since Venice is offshore, and not a part of de jure Italy, the situation is pretty safe. When I don't feel like conquering, and would rather just have a big family, I play Venice.

Jun 7, 2023 · Venice itself is not a city holding as far as I remember, so giving it to someone doesn't make that a republican vassal. There should be a city holding in the duchy of Venice, led by a Mayor. Give the title to Venice to that Mayor and you'll have a republic vassal.
